Objectives

  1. To position The Board and its members as supporters of a strong and vibrant community, rich in arts and culture.

  2. To promote Vancouver as an exciting and culturally diverse community for residents and visitors alike.

  3. To demonstrate broad-based corporate and public support for the Spirit of Vancouver and encourage participation by members of The Board.

  4. To identify issues, challenges and opportunities in Vancouver.

  5. To better publicize Vancouver’s accomplishments and help foster the celebration of community successes.

Surrounded by mountains and located on the waterfront in the heart of downtown Vancouver — within walking distance of 13,000 hotel rooms — the Vancouver Convention & Exhibition Centre (VCEC) demonstrates a commitment to service and technical excellence combined with high-quality banqueting. It won the AIPC Apex Award for "World's Best Congress Centre" in 2002 and was named a finalist in 2004. 

Famous for its Five Sails — a Vancouver landmark — the VCEC offers more than 150,000 ft2 of highly flexible function space. Scheduled to complete in spring 2009, its major expansion will triple the size of the existing facility to nearly 500,000 ft2.
